When making adjustments to my forks compression do I need to adjust the shock to keep the bike balanced?
This question has many different forms and can come about as someone adjusts the suspension on stock or modified components. It makes sense that you would, but the real answer, no you don't need adjust the other end of the bike just because to maintain balance and symmetry. Make adjustments to the clickers as the bike needs, if the fork feels stiff, adjust the fork, but don't adjust the shock at the same time. If the forks stiffness is the biggest issue gets that resolved and then adjust the next biggest issue out.
I've been looking around at what other companies recommend for sag and free sag on my YZF and I noticed that you recommend smaller rider sag numbers, and some of your competitors’ recommend larger numbers, what’s the reason for that?
There are many reasons for the different recommendations, ranging from: that’s what they always recommend to opinions about suspension performance. We can't really comment on the specifics for any given company but or recommendations are very straight forward at least in logic as too why. For instance we recommend 100mm on a YZF and not the common 110mm because the YZF is a stable and slow turning bike. Running less sag puts more weight on the front, makes the fork angle a little steeper and the bike turns better. If you had a 09 Honda we would not recommend running 100mm.. So it’s all relative to your bike and needs.
